James Christopher Consulting (JCC) has been appointed by property developers Adderstone Group to provide civil, structural and geotechnical design for the exciting North Shore project.
The North Shore scheme is located on one of the last remaining undeveloped plots on Newcastle’s Quayside, adjacent to St Anne’s Quay. A number of world-famous attractions and iconic venues are within a short walk of the development site.
The Ryder Architecture-designed residential scheme comprises 130 two-bed apartments, all with full-height floor-to-ceiling windows enabling spectacular uninterrupted views of the Tyne, including the city’s historic bridges, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and Sage Gateshead.
The building’s profile incorporates five towers, varying in height between ten and 16 floors, with additional amenities including rooftop gardens, approximately 160 car parking spaces and extensive private landscaping for residents to enjoy.
Technical director at JCC, Craig Higgins, explains: “We are extremely excited to be involved with such a bold and innovative design. It has been a great experience working with the full project team to develop the design and to assist Adderstone Group in bringing this scheme to fruition.
“We believe collectively we can transform the last strategic site on Newcastle’s Quayside into one of the best residential schemes in the UK.”
Managing director of JCC, Chris Lee, adds: “It is fantastic to work with such a creative team developing an iconic site on our own doorstep.
“We are also lucky enough to be involved in a number of other important local schemes including the Bigg Market development, Science Central and the next phase of the Stephenson’s Quarter development.
“As professional engineers it’s always satisfying to work on local projects that are of real benefit to your local community and help shape your city for the better.
“We feel very privileged to be playing our part in doing that.”
