Great Whittington scheme proves popular

Northumberland-based Anvil Homes has reached a significant milestone at its Great Whittington housing development in the Tyne Valley

The housebuilder has welcomed its first residents at Briar Fields, following completion of the first new home, and has also announced the sale of a further three plots, all of which have been snapped up months ahead of completion.

Briar Fields, which comprises ten individually designed, four bedroomed detached family homes, is located on the north-western side of Great Whittington village, four miles north of Corbridge. The scheme started on site in May 2017 and is supporting 20 local jobs during its 18-month construction.

Anvil Homes is a family run business established in 1993, which specialises in bespoke rural residential developments. Its Great Whittington scheme follows a number of successful developments in recent years including the award-winning Slaley Village and Orchard Gap in Hexham.

The firm has now released new CGI’s of the next phase of development at Briar Fields, which is already underway. Plot 8, Tarset Lodge, will be completed later this month and will be launched as the development’s show home in February.

Alistair Carr, director at Anvil Homes said: “We are very pleased with our progress on site at Briar Fields and particularly how well the scheme has been received. It was fantastic to see the first home in occupation before Christmas and we are pleased to have secured the sale of the next three homes.

“We will be fitting out the show home over the next few weeks which will help to showcase the fantastic quality of life that Briar Fields has to offer. The specification includes bespoke kitchens & bathrooms, internal oak doors and under floor heating throughout the ground floors, but a major attraction is also the village location in rural Northumberland.

“We hand pick local tradesmen and sub-contractors to deliver our developments, which helps us to ensure the highest quality standards whilst supporting local jobs.”

Hexham-based Youngs RPS is the appointed sales agent at Briar Fields, sales manager Kim Harrison added: “Great Whittington is such a beautiful village but also has excellent access to schools and leisure amenities in Corbridge, Matfen and Hexham.  We have experienced a high level of enquiries for the scheme including a number of interested parties from outside of the region, who are attracted by the quality of life Northumberland has to offer. The show home will be open every weekend throughout February and we anticipate further sales will follow.”

Briar Fields is due to complete in Autumn 2018.
