Jacksons law firm announce charity of the year 2018

One of the most established law firms in the North East, Jacksons, is delighted to announce its charity of the year 2018 as The Link.

The Link, based in Redcar, was established in 2010 by its managing director, Tina Jackson after she identified the lack of mental health support for children, adults and families. Its services include a wide range of emotional resilience workshops and training, therapeutic assessments and one to one therapeutic intervention including specialist therapies.

The charity has a number of professionals working with them who have experience of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy (CBP), art psychotherapy and child psychotherapy.

Ian Swales, chair of Trustees at The Link said: “We’re very excited to have Jacksons’ support this year and will be working closely with them to help raise awareness of the services we offer.  We rely heavily on support from local businesses to raise funds and sponsorship so that we can continue to improve the lives of some of the children, adults and families in the region.  We recently lost financial support from the Lottery Fund for approximately £135k per annum and, for a small service like ours, it’s a really big loss.  We need all the help we can get!”.

Every year, Jacksons’ charity committee invite all staff at the firm to put forward details of local charities they would like to support throughout the year. The committee then decide on which charities should be shortlisted and the staff have the final vote on which charity is chosen.

In 2017 Jacksons supported Teesside based charity Daisy Chain and 4Louis who are in Washington.  The staff at Jacksons arranged a wide range of activities including a quiz night, bake and book sales, Easter egg decorating and pumpkin carving competition and raised a large sum of money for each of the charities.

Lisa Harding, Paralegal and member of Jacksons’ charity committee said, ‘As the demand for support for mental health outstrips supply, GPs and others are referring increasing numbers of local children to the team at The Link to provide assistance’.

Jacksons Law firm is one of the North East’s longest established law firms and has been practising in the Tees Valley for over 140 years.  Operating from its head office in Stockton on Tees, and an office in Newcastle upon Tyne, it is well placed to assist clients across the region on a wide range of business and personal legal advice.
