Silverstone Residential Surveys expands following high demand from homebuyers

Newcastle-based Silverstone Residential Surveys has expanded its team following a sustained increase in demand for its surveys since it launched last July

The firm, which specialises in residential building surveys for homebuyers, was established by Alex Hunter, a former property lawyer, alongside Ben Hunter & Richard Farrey, co-directors of commercial building surveying practice, Silverstone Building Consultancy.

Whilst Silverstone Building Consultancy specialises in building surveying and project management for the commercial sector, the directors identified a gap in the market for a local independent residential surveying business offering a high level of expertise, experience and commercial awareness.

Richard Farrey, director explains: “We decided to draw on the strengths of our existing commercial practice, using our building surveyors’ collective knowledge and experience along with our considerable pool of resources, to launch a new and separate business targeting the homebuyer market, which would offer the same high level of professionalism and expertise as our commercial practice.

“We have now expanded with the appointment of a new building surveyor, Ross Haggie, who will work solely on residential properties following a high demand for our surveys.”

Ross Haggie has joined the team and will undertake homebuyer reports, full building surveys, defect surveys and party wall surveys in accordance with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) guidelines.

Haggie previously worked as a building surveyor at Gateshead-based Billinghurst George & Partners and has a wealth of experience working within the residential sector throughout the North East.

Commenting on his new role, Haggie said: “I am really pleased to be joining Silverstone Residential Surveys at this exciting time. The team is well known for its considerable expertise and high quality service and I look forward to working with them to ensure these high standards are maintained.”

Alex Hunter, director at Silverstone Residential Surveys added: “The success of the business to date has exceeded all of our expectations and we are very excited to be growing our team with this new appointment. Ross’ experience and expertise is perfectly suited to the role and his positive can-do attitude will fit in with our working ethos.”
