1. Skip the queues
Self-service check ins are located at the airport, meaning you can skip the queues and drop your bags off yourself. No hold luggage? Check in online and go straight through to security!
2. Learn a few key phrases
Heading to Paris? Make sure you learn a few key phrases in French that’ll help you get around the city. A lot of countries now have a high population of English speakers but a few phrases will help you go a long way. Example: Where is the toilet?
3. Prebook your currency
No time to change your currency before you travel? Travelex is located conveniently in the airport, meaning you can pre-book your money and collect it when you arrive – at cheaper online prices.
4. Bring a portable charger
Although most aircraft are now kitted out with electrical sockets for charging your devices, there are times during your journey where you may need an emergency boost to your phone or laptop. We recommend using low power mode on your device and bringing a fully charged power bank – just in case your boarding pass is stored on your phone!
5. Use our free, unlimited Wi-Fi
Here at Newcastle Airport, we offer all travellers passing through free unlimited Wi-Fi. Use our Wi-Fi to get the latest flight information or browse social media. If you’re in the mood for streaming the latest films or box sets, you can upgrade to our premium Wi-Fi service for just £5.
6. Utilise Shop and Collect and World Duty Free’s Reserve and Collect
If you’re travelling within the EU, you can take advantage of our free Shop and Collect service! Available to passengers shopping in World Duty Free, Cuba Lily, Dixons Travel, Aerospa, Accessorize, JD Sports, Boots and Traveller, simply buy your goods at the airport and pick up on your return – meaning you won’t have to worry about excess baggage. Benefit from World Duty Free’s online prices by reserving them online and picking them up when you fly.
7. Double check your documents
It pays off to be organized so make sure you have copies of absolutely everything you need for your journey. These can include passport, boarding pass, visa, travel insurance, prepaid cards and accommodation bookings!
8. Pack your favourite snacks
Most foods are fine to be taken through security, meaning you can take your steak bake from Gregg’s or your favourite homemade sandwich through security to enjoy on your flight.
9. Relax before your flight
After clearing security, make sure you relax! Don’t worry about being the first on the plane – everyone takes off at the same time. Why not indulge in your extra time with a trip to our Aerospa?
10. Need help? Just ask!
As #YourAirport, we aim to help whenever and wherever we can. If you’re stuck at the airport, ask any member of staff or message and tweet us on our social media channels. We’re happy to help!
