Located in the heart of Newcastle city centre, Greys Quarter is home to many fantastic new bars and restaurants offering an indulgent pit stop to hungry shoppers. I chose to sample trendy bar and restaurant Tapas Revolution, to see what they had to offer.
The popular bar and restaurant has created a welcoming feel, with atmospheric lighting, cosy booths and a traditional décor.
We were greeted at the door and seated by a warm and friendly member of the serving team, and presented with a food and drinks menus that left us spoilt for choice.
With plenty of choices for meat, seafood and vegetarian diners, the array of tapas dishes offers something different to try for all tastes. Tapas Revolution is the perfect spot for a grazing lunch, light bite or a more indulgent evening meal.
The drinks menu has an extensive list of premium gins, inventive cocktails and – of course – a choice of homemade sangrias, one of Spain’s most famous exports.
From Sunday to Friday 12pm-7pm, jugs of Sangria are available at half price and cocktails and Larios gins are 2-4-1.
I opted for the Malaga Larios distilled dry gin, which was beautifully served with fever-tree Indian tonic, watermelon and cucumber – a refreshing start to my Spanish tapas experience.
All of the tapas dishes offer good value for money, priced from £1.95 – £7.95, lunch and two people set menus are also available.
Each dish was delicious and unique offering that real-tapas bite that founder Omar Allibhoy promises. The ‘Tortilla De Patatas’ was distinctive and piquant, a real filling and tasty helping, however our personal favorites were the ‘Berenjenas Fritas’, sweet and indulgent, and the ‘Pisto’ – a rich and succulent take on a tapas stew.
Throughout our dining experience, the service was attentive and efficient, and the food flavorsome, unique and filling – we will definitely be visiting again soon!
