Lucy Hope, managing director of Bespoq Commercial Solutions, has enjoy a successful year working with businesses on their funding needs
How has business been in 2017?
It has been extremely busy. We’ve been working with a diverse client base. Our tag line is ‘Because Growth Needs Money’ and that certainly seems to be the case.
What have been Bespoq’s highlights?
We’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic businesses with strong growth aspirations. We are also working with a number of new and innovative lenders which will undoubtedly benefit our clients and give them a much wider choice when it comes to funding their businesses. A great deal of our time is spent meeting with lenders to ensure we match our clients with them correctly. We deal with all aspects of Commercial Finance from Commercial Mortgages, unsecured lending, asset and invoice finance, so there is a lot to keep up to date with.
What has been the biggest challenge this year? How have you overcome this?
A big challenge for us has been trying to change the way Commercial Finance Brokers are perceived. Often, brokers are viewed as a ‘last chance saloon’ for clients who have been declined by several lenders and don’t know where to turn. Intermediaries can assist clients who are struggling, however the majority of our clients can obtain finance relatively easily, but they do not have the time or the market knowledge to know which lenders to approach. We have the benefit of a vast number of contacts and can often negotiate a much better deal than a client would have obtained directly, by thoroughly researching the options available.
Have any external factors impacted the company?
We really want to create a professional image within the industry and work as our client’s trusted advisors. We’ve chosen to be directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and are members of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) to ensure we offer our clients the best choice and protection.
What are Bespoq’s plans for 2018?
We are really looking forward to 2018 which will see the start of some of our client’s projects that we’ve been working on. It will be fantastic to see their plans come to fruition.
