Since then, Coutts has been committed to supporting clients and entrepreneurs across the region and this continues to be a priority for the private bank.
Reflecting on Coutts’ anniversary, Andrew Christie, managing director for North Midlands, South West & Wales, says: “We are extremely proud to have been in Newcastle for the past 20 years. Newcastle remains an extremely important region for us and we enjoy a close and successful relationship with the city, its people and businesses in Newcastle and the North East.”
While manufacturing still plays a large part in the local economy, there is an emerging creative scene, as well as an increasing number of technological and IT businesses approaching Coutts for financial advice.
“Over the years, it has been fascinating to evolve
with our client base and the changing economy; however, we are still proud to support a strong stream of entrepreneurs from a manufacturing and engineering background,” Andrew reflects.
“The office moved from its original location in Grey Street to larger offices on the Quayside in 2008 and although the original staff members have since retired or left the business, the continuity of values and experience within the new team remains the same, with a focus on banking, lending, investing and financial planning.”
Over the past 20 years, the Coutts team in Newcastle has been able to grow and retain its clients. As some family businesses pass through generations, these entities need to keep adapting to ever-changing technologies, consumer expectations and processes. In many instances, the Coutts office in Newcastle has been able to maintain multi-generational relationships and navigate various private and business clients throughout different stages of their succession journey.
Andrew adds: “Whether banking, lending, investments or financial planning, Coutts understands what it means to be wealthy and the complexities that come with it. We have been continuously preparing our clients for the future, while also adapting new technologies which benefit them.
“From simple day-to-day banking queries, to providing loans for new ventures or advising on future investments, the highly-trained Coutts team are able to support a wide range of private clients through personal relationships, meaning that we understand our clients’ requirements and needs.”
The Newcastle Coutts office will be celebrating its 20-year anniversary by welcoming clients
on Thursday, November 15 to a special event at Riverside Terrace, BALTIC.
Andrew concludes: “The event will provide an opportunity for clients to network, celebrate, reminisce and to build on the relationships that have been established with local Coutts advisers and fellow clients.”
