Theatre: The Nutcracker
Northern Ballet’s presentation of The Nutcracker at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal in November will definitely get you into the Christmas spirit. Performed to Tchaikovsky’s score, played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia, David Nixon’s version of this classic tale promises to bring a new style of magic to modern audiences.

The latest biopic the pioneering founder of Apple has anticipation reaching a fever pitch thanks to an Aaron Sorkin script and Danny Boyle directing a stella cast including Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels.
Steve Jobs is a film that promises an intimate portrait of a man at the epicentre of a technological evolution and is based on the best-selling biography by Walter Isaacson.

Music: Tiger Lillies
The songs of Cole Porter, one of America’s all-time great songwriters, will be given a macabre twist thanks to the reworkings by The Tiger Lillies. The cult avant-garde musical trio brings elements of cabaret, vaudeville and punk together and presents familiar songs in a fashion that has been described as haunting and hypnotic.
Art: Hannah Collins
The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is currently presenting the work of British artist Hannah Collins, who was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1993. Known for her large unframed photographs and installations, this exhibition showcases Hannah’s explorations of cultural space and social history.
