Escape and unwind at Linden Hall

Out of Hours visits the spa and health club at Macdonald Linden Hall to try out the new Elemis BIOTEC treatment

They say first impression counts – and Linden Hall certainly does not disappoint! A short drive through the beautiful Northumberland countryside, and you arrive at the charming country house hotel.

Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club is an impressive venue, built by merchant and banker Charles William Bigge in 1812. With 450 acres of picturesque grounds, a stunning 18th century manor, a luxurious spa and health club, an 18-hole golf course, conference facilities and an established restaurant – the perfect location for both business and leisure.

There is a lovely atmosphere around the hotel, and everyone we met were welcoming and approachable. Before our afternoon in the spa & health club, we enjoyed a spa lunch in the dining room, overlooking the stunning landscape surrounding Linden Hall. For starter, we enjoyed a refreshing health-kick from a juice packed with superfood ingredients. The main courses of corn-fed chicken with pearl couscous tabbouleh and vegetable and sweet potato stew with wild rice, were light and tasty, followed by delicious and indulgent desserts.

With a range of facilities, luxury products, treatments and spa days, the spa and health club is the perfect way to unwind. Take a swim in the heated indoor pool, chill out in the jacuzzi, or simply put your feet up and relax in your fluffy robe by the heated poolside area.

A few steps from the indoor pool situates an outdoor area, giving you the option to unwind in the sunshine and take in some fresh air. Don’t forget to try the sauna and steam room, adding an element of detox and refreshment to your spa day!

Elemis is a luxury skincare brand that caters for individual needs, and all products and treatments are designed to support great skin health. Launched in 2015, the BIOTEC collection has become a favourite of beauty insiders, and for good reason. The products work by helping to increase cell energy, repairing and protecting skin. The BIOTEC facial promises visibly healthy and energised skin, so we couldn’t wait to give the treatment a try!

I opted for the BIOTEC radiance renew as I suffer with sluggish and dry skin, and the treatment is an antidote for dull and tired skin in need of rejuvenation! After a relaxing 30 minutes in the spa, I was taken to the treatment room. The therapist was welcoming and informative, instantly putting me at ease! And the result? The BIOTEC treatment left my skin feeling thoroughly exfoliated, cleansed and visibly radiant.

The Out of Hours team left Macdonald Linden Hall feeling revitalised and rejuvenated, the perfect tonic to a busy schedule! Whether you are visiting for a business meeting, a round of golf, or a relaxing afternoon in the spa, we can recommend the trip to Northumberland.

A big thank you to all the team at Linden Hall for looking after us.
