Beginning its journey at Turbine Way Business Park in Washington, Energy Professionals Group (EPG) has grown from three recruiters to a team of 20 recruiters, resourcers and support staff – recruiting for roles all over the world.
Specialists in oil and gas, technical engineering, construction, chemicals and petrochemicals and mining, the team has seen a great start to 2019
– moving into new premises at the North East Business and Innovation Centre in Sunderland Enterprise Park after outgrowing its previous office space.
The management team has also been restructured in order to better support clients. Led by Rachel Dougherty, Shannon Manners and Paul Jones, the business now operates as three teams, supporting the UK, North America and EMEAA.
Rachel heads up the UK and Europe division and is responsible for filling oil and gas sector and trade-based positions.
She says: “We’d previously split our teams and had been working from two locations but since moving into our new office, we’ve been able to create a really great environment for people to work in.
“Our staff retention is way above industry standard, which is fantastic as we know that our success is down to our people, and the relationships they have built.”
Having all started their recruitment careers as resourcers, the leadership team worked their way up the ranks at previous agencies before joining EPG and building their own desks from scratch.
Paul Jones, who heads up the Technical Engineering division covering chemicals, petrochemicals, power and mining across the UK and EMEAA region, explains: “When I joined the company, we took much more of a ‘scatter-gun’ approach and weren’t selective about the clients we were working with. The process now is much more refined and we’ve each found a niche which we’re really comfortable in.
“The business has had an exceptional start to 2019 and I’m confident that this success will continue throughout the year and into the future thanks to the expert team we have working in all areas of the organisation. Their attitude, ethics and drive will enable us to build on existing
key relationships and form connections with additional clients.”
The success of equal measure has been achieved in the US, where the business (which trades as Atlantic Energy Partners) focuses on the oil and gas industry, and operates from three offices in Houston, Oklahoma and Delaware.
Shannon heads up Atlantic Energy Partners. She says: “We’ve built a fantastic reputation with our clients in the US, which is entirely down to our fantastic team and their ability to create personal connections with leading organisations in the oil and gas industry.
“They’re happy to go above and beyond; making themselves available 24 hours a day and using all of the resources available to them to fill positions.”
Talking about the company’s future, Shannon adds: “Everything we do revolves around offering a personable approach, so we want to make sure that we don’t grow too quickly and continue to service our clients well.”
Rachel concludes: “Our growth needs to be natural rather than forced and the hope is that we’ll find ourselves in a position whereby new customers are coming to us directly.”
