For me, the best thing about living and working in the North East is the variety of business communities across a range of sectors that choose this region as their base; there’s a real sense of combined strength and collaboration.
If you’re lucky enough to call the North East home then the best thing has to be our mix of city, country and coastal life. It’s all within a 30-minute drive of Jesmond, where I live!
I love to spend quality family time at Bamburgh. The Northumberland coastline is breath-taking.
My favourite place to eat in the North East is Les Petits Choux. It’s a fabulous independent coffee and patisserie shop just two minutes’ walk from our office on the edge of Leazes Park. It’s a team favourite, and you must try their cakes!
This summer we sponsored a design sprint at Northumbrian Water’s Innovation Festival, which was held at Newcastle Racecourse. It really was a festival vibe, and Newcastle Racecourse did a great job in delivering the festival over the week – catering and service were all very good.
What ‘makes’ the North East for me is the variety of people, businesses, places to go and people to see. It’s a great place to have our head office and be based – there’s a real sense of community.
My ‘hidden gem’ in the North East is Milbourne, on the outskirts of Ponteland. I got married there, but it tends to be a go-to for family walks at weekends.
I think the North East is missing an outdoor swimming pool, especially after the fabulous summer we’ve had. It would be a go-to for me and my kids on summer days! I travel to London frequently as we deliver client projects throughout the UK and I do often think how lucky they are in the summer to have Lidos – a Newcastle Lido would be pretty special!
