Fairstone promotes fair play

September 1, 2017

Fairstone Financial Management, the UK’s largest Chartered Financial Planning firm, is helping several sports to thrive in the region

Sport has an incredible power to do social good and the impact of grassroots sport on local communities has been well documented. It can help people to lead healthier lives, develop new and transferrable skills and engage with their communities.

As the UK’s largest Chartered Financial Planning firm, Fairstone Financial Management has been keen to support sport on a local and national level.

Most recently, Fairstone has invested in grassroots golf, sponsoring the Home Internationals Amateur Championship over a four-year period. The Home Internationals recognises elite amateur golfers and often acts as a pathway to becoming a touring professional.

In addition, Fairstone also has a long-term relationship with Scottish Golf and the business sponsors the Scottish Amateur, the Scottish Women’s and the Scottish Boy’s championships.

Fairstone CEO Lee Hartley says: “Our sponsorship of the Home Internationals Golf Championship provides top-level amateur golfers with the platform to showcase their talents at four of the UK’s most challenging venues. Our relationship with Scottish Golf has also allowed us to support emerging talent throughout Scotland. We are delighted to align our business with golf, a sport that has a backbone of integrity and really embodies our values as a business.”

At a professional level, Fairstone has also been a lead supporter of Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership.

Lee continues: “As a national firm that began in the North East, we are very proud of our roots. As we kickstarted our growth strategy back in 2012, it was clear that our partnership with the Falcons represented a perfect fit for our business – both in terms of increasing our profile and being able to reach new customers. Fairstone was the official partner of the team between 2013 and 2017 and continues to support the club.”

Within the local community, Fairstone has supported children at Hilton Primary Academy in Blakelaw, Newcastle. The school was introduced to the firm after the directors saw the school’s rugby team take part in a special half-time match at a Newcastle Falcon’s game and subsequently donated full kits to the team.

Hilton Academy educates more than 400 children from some of the most deprived areas of the west end of Newcastle. The school offers its youngsters learning experiences through a diverse, rich and creative curriculum, which includes team sports such as rugby.

Lee comments: “It’s a pleasure to have been able to donate the rugby kit to the students of Hilton Academy. It was clear from seeing the children take part in the half-time match at Newcastle Falcons that the team is passionate about the game of rugby, much the way we are as an organisation. We were delighted to provide them with a brand-new kit and to encourage their commitment to the game which, as well as being important for health and fitness, can also develop teamwork, confidence and communication skills.

“Fairstone is proud to align the Fairstone brand with sports that are based on dedication, honesty and integrity – values which, as a Chartered firm with very high business standards, are integral to our business.”
