Our wonderful city is at the centre of a foodie revolution, from fine dining, upmarket bars & restaurants really pushing the boundaries – we are spoilt for choice! With Mother’s Day just around the corner, how are you thinking of spending the day with your loved one? Many will be making plans for celebrations and whether you have a yearly tradition, plan far in advance or are a last-minuter like myself, the North East has many wonderful options and things to offer this Mothering Sunday. I’ve put together a few of my favourite things to do in the North East below!
Browns Bar & Brasserie, Newcastle

Served between 2.30 and 5pm, Browns Bar & Brasserie has a tempting afternoon tea selection for just £13 per adult on offer. For a small additional cost, why not add a chilled glass of champagne or treat your mum to a sophisticated gin & tonic?

The Quayside is the perfect place to visit for spectacular views of the Tyne and the bridges, cultural landmarks and attractions, and the historic houses facing the Guild Hall. Enjoy all the Quayside has to offer for a lovely day out, whilst taking advantage of the best of our striking city! Treat your mum with the varied choice of restaurants and bars, with popular choices the Slug & Lettuce, Pitcher & Piano, Aveika & Malmaison.

Enjoy a red carpet arrival, a two course traditional Sunday lunch or luxury afternoon tea, a floral gift for mum, a professional photograph and entertainment from the remarkable Fever. From Frank Sinatra to Michael Bublé, your mum’s favourite renditions will be played and at £16.50 per adult and £8.50 per child – it’s an afternoon that shouldn’t be missed!
Relax at Rockliffe Hall, Tees Valley
If it’s tranquility and a spot of indulgence your mum really enjoys, visit Rockliffe Hall to spoil her this Mother’s Day! Enjoy a traditional Sunday lunch, afternoon tea and relaxation in the spa. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable experience, this is definitely the way to spend some time out with Mum!
Every mum is unique and special in their own way – my mum loves her daffodils, chocolates and simply putting her feet up. Mothering Sunday is the day we get to treat our mum in a way that she will really appreciate.
