Teesside International Airport bosses hail Loganair and British Airways deal

Airport bosses have revealed a new deal they say will provide smoother international travel from the region.

Officials at Teesside International Airport say Loganair has struck an agreement with British Airways that means passengers can fly on one ticket from the Tees Valley via Heathrow to 134 global destinations.

They say the move by the regional carrier – which connects Teesside International to Heathrow – removes the need for travellers to recheck bags and increases protection against missing connections due to delays.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen [pictured], who brought the airport back into public ownership following a 2017 election pledge, said: “The adding of Teesside International to the British Airways and Loganair partnership agreement is another fantastic coup.

“This arrangement cuts down on queuing times, stress and hassle for people travelling abroad for business or a much-deserved holiday.

“The global aviation industry has obviously been hit hard by coronavirus, but it’s essential that we put measures in place now so that we’re in a position for a speedy and smooth take-off as restrictions ease.

Kay Ryan, Loganair chief commercial officer, added: “I’m delighted our customers, wishing to connect through Heathrow to the rest of the world, can now do so by booking via British Airways on one ticket, with all the security and peace of mind that brings to international travel.”
