North East England Chamber of Commerce launches new regional business awards

Inspirational and resilient businesses have the chance to win recognition for their successes in an awards ceremony.

The North East England Chamber of Commerce Business Awards have been officially launched to champion organisations across the region.

Categories include the best small, medium, Partner and President’s Club businesses of the year, the North East Champion of the Year and Company of the Year.

Lesley Moody [pictured], North East England Chamber of Commerce president, said “With so many brilliant organisations and individuals in our region, I was so disappointed when we had to cancel our first Business Awards last year due to the pandemic.

“The awards have been created to celebrate business diversity and success.

“They will help to promote everything great businesses do on a daily basis to grow our economy.

“The honours will show clear, real-life examples of a determination to succeed and overcome challenges.

“No matter what occurs or how, our region’s businesses always punch above their weight.

“I urge all our members to enter this year’s awards and share their fantastic stories.”

Sponsor of the awards is Bernicia.

John Johnston, Bernicia chief executive, added: “As a housing association fully focused on our region, we recognise the great work that the North East of England Chamber of Commerce does to support the region’s business community, and to promote the scale and range of opportunities that the North East has to offer.

“There’s lots of fantastic businesses across the region doing great things every day, helping the North East thrive.

“The awards shine a light on these achievements and put North East businesses on a national stage, showcasing innovation, collaboration and our shared determination to help the region grow and prosper.

“As associate sponsor, we’re delighted to be part of championing our region as a great place to live, work and do business.”

Closing dates for entries is May 21 and the final will be on September 9 at the Grand Marquee, Wynyard, or online if the event is not able to take place.

There will be the opportunity for a number of Chamber awards regional winners to go on to the national British Chambers of Commerce competition.

Categories in that include best green business, business diversification of the year, entrepreneur of the year, diversity and inclusion and export business.

Furthermore, The Chamber Inspiring Females Awards will be launched in the summer, with its final due to be held in November.
