Rockliffe Hall, in Hurworth, County Durham, has won Large Hotel of the Year at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.
The 16 Gold Winners were announced at the 27th annual awards at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, last night (March 8).
The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence recognise and celebrate across customer service and the quality of the guest’s experience. They recognise and reward businesses and people working in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Eamonn Elliott, chief executive at Rockliffe Hall, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to have won this award and it confirms that we are the best of the best. For a north east hotel to be named the best large hotel in England, at such an esteemed ceremony, is a credit to everyone who works here and is great for the region.”
Tourism minister, David Evennett, said: “The success of our world leading tourism industry is due to the passion and dedication of individuals across the country. These awards highlight the huge talent we have, and the fantastic contribution winners and nominees have made to the sector, and I congratulate them all.”
Rockliffe Hall boasts 61 sumptuous guestrooms and suites, three superb restaurants, an award-winning spa and 18-hole championship golf course. Rockliffe recently invested £1 million in a new Spa Garden to enhance the spa experience and has plans for further investment to enhance its services in 2016.
