The HR Dept Newcastle switches to new offices as team expands

An HR, employment law and health and safety support firm has signalled its intent for future growth after complementing new additions with a switch to larger premises.

The HR Dept Newcastle has welcomed senior HR advisor Nicola Linkleter and business administrator Hannah Parkin, and moved from The Quadrus Centre, in Boldon, to South Shields’ Fowler Street.

The changes come after the company reported a 20 per cent increase in turnover at the end of the financial year.

Established in 2014 by Jayne Hart, the operator is part of a national franchise of HR Depts across the UK, Ireland and Australia, and provides support to small and medium-sized businesses across the North East.

Explaining the decision to add new faces and switch to a new home, Jayne said: “Nicola previously held senior positions at Draeger Safety UK and Nissan, and her appointment demonstrates we are working on a range of complex HR projects.

“Hannah will provide much needed support, particularly within recruitment, while also undergoing HR training.

“We have had a positive year, despite uncertainty within the economy, and wanted to remain within South Tyneside, with the office providing a hybrid working environment going forward.

“This is a long-term investment, and we now have the space to accommodate up to 15 people.

“As the business has grown, South Tyneside Council has very much supported us and remaining in the borough felt like the right thing to do.”

And Jayne says the business is primed and ready to assist local firms as they deal with growing HR, employment law and health and safety needs following the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

She said: “When furlough was due to end last autumn and COVID-19 flared up in December, we saw a surge in redundancies, but we are pleased to report we are now being approached by many organisations that are thriving.

“Our focus for the year ahead is to continue to support businesses with in-house HR support and to attract retained clients looking to scale up.”

Councillor Tracey Dixon, leader of South Tyneside Council, added: “We’re delighted Jayne and her team have chosen to remain in the borough, and we look forward to watching them and supporting them as they continue to grow.”

The business was supported in its move by Sweeney Miller Solicitors.

Partner Surbhi Vedhara said: “With so many businesses now recognising the importance of investment in people, there is a real need in the region for specialist HR services, which Jayne is renowned for.”
