Who are we looking for?
You will be enthusiastic, driven and creative. You may not have any previous marketing experience, but you have studied marketing, PR, communications or business management. You should be detail-oriented, organised and focused.
We are a busy team delivering a multi-channelled strategy so you will be supporting on short and long-term projects in-house delivering print, digital, film, events and creative for our clients. You need to show initiative and bring ideas to the table.

Alison is an NCTJ-qualified journalist with more than 10 years’ experience. She has written extensively for a range of digital and print titles, and has managed the delivery of multiple magazines as editor. She is adept at creating engaging copy that informs and entertains its target audience.
Managing director & creative director
Peter was the lead designer at previous business publication before leaving to become a senior designer and then creative manager at two prominent marketing companies. He brings this vast experience in print and digital design with him as the creative mind behind the North East Times’ print and digital platforms.
John has over 30 years experience in media, sales, management and marketing. He became product champion for The Journal newspaper and also ran its business magazine. John then moved into professional services. He helped re-brand law firm Watson Burton and wealth manager Brewin Dolphin.
Martin helped shape the former North East Times for more than a decade as a sales manager and commercial director and now has the opportunity to realise the full extent of his vision for the title as advertising director. He works with clients to develop and create on and o ine media solutions which deliver results.
Business development director
Rachael has a real passion for the North East and with over 14 years’ experience in media and publishing she brings a wealth of experience to the business. Before joining North East Times, she was senior business development manager at BQ Magazine, where she developed and led a range of commercial publishing and media initiatives across Scotland and the North. In a newly created role for North East Times, Rachael supports the growth and development of the key client base while initiating and implementing new product ideas in print, digital and business events across the region.
Business development manager
Matt brings three years’ experience in media and publishing to the role, having previously worked as a business and education account manager at Reach plc, where he demonstrated a dynamic approach to marketing solutions and built a track record in consummate customer service, account management and new business development. Matt has joined the team to support the growth and management of the key client base of business titles North East Times and Contact.
Chris is a highly experienced editorial and commercial photographer who has been commissioned by The Guardian, Little White Lies Magazine, The National Portrait Gallery, BT Broadband, EMI and Virgin Records. He provides the
lead photography for the all-new North East Times, in addition to running his own successful freelance photography business.
Andrew is an innovative film maker who uses the latest equipment and techniques to create beautifully-crafted and informative films. Andrew works with North East Times on a freelance basis but has become an integral part of the team as the importance of lm and video becomes ever more prominent in ingregrated marketing strategies.
Digital marketing manager
Chloe is a digital marketing specialist who began working at North East Times while completing her degree in marketing management. Chloe is experienced in building brand persona, voice and identity as part of an overall digital marketing strategy, demonstrating creative thinking, planning and analysis to build and then amplify digital communications. She has expertise in multi-channelled B2B and B2C marketing - including email, online, social media and print platforms.
Business development manager
Brent is an experienced sales and marketing professional, with experience of building relationships with businesses to help grow their customer base and achieve their marketing objectives. He has worked in roles for local news media, managing advertising across print and digital platforms. He will lead on the commercial opportunities for Contact, as well as supporting on North East Times.
Richard recently graduated from Newcastle University with an international political economy MA, and is a well-rounded writer who has contributed to a number of reputable publications on a wide range of issues from politics and current affairs to culture and technology. Richard’s role is to deliver business news and views with an independent angle, and to support the editorial team with content for both print and digital platforms.
Eamonn Leavey joins the team as a business ambassador, following a 12-year career with the North East England Chamber of Commerce. He was responsible for setting up the successful Chamber President’s Club, which focused engagement and connectivity with all the influential business leaders across all sectors and across the region. Eamonn has been a trustee for over twenty years with local charity, Brave Hearts of The North East.
