Travel: An afternoon of relaxation at Ramside Spa

Chloe Holmes visits Ramside Hall Hotel & Spa in County Durham to enjoy a luxury spa afternoon

Ramside Hall Hotel & Spa is set in beautiful grounds, easily accessible from the A1. The spa experience promises to revitalise your body and mind – so we couldn’t wait!

Ramside Hall is home to renowned spa facilities and treatments, with a thermal suite, five pools including a hydrotherapy pool and an outdoor infinity pool, a state of the art fitness suite, and luxurious treatment rooms.

The spa has 14 luxurious treatment rooms, a darkened sleep retreat complete with soundwave therapy beds and sleep pods, a Middle Eastern Mud Rasul Chamber, and a beauty snug.

On arrival, we were welcomed by a friendly team in the beautifully decorated and modern extension to the original hotel.

After an informative chat at the welcome desk, we were given wristbands to access the changing rooms and thermal suite facilities.

The changing rooms are stylish, spacious and clean. The area is fully equipped with lockers, showers, private changing areas and toilets. The changing area also has a bright mirrored wall, and cosy robes and slippers are provided for entering the spa.

The spa area is bright and modern, with a 25m swimming pool looking out over the beautiful gardens. Also available to spa-goers is a sauna, and a bubbly hot tub – perfect for catching up with friends or soaking up the spa atmosphere during some quiet time.

There is also a sauna and steam room to relax in – and ice bucket showers to cool off in.

Through the double glass doors is a large hydro-pool with an array of massage jets for an energising soak. At the edge of the hydro-pool, a bar offers flavoured waters, a lovely touch!

I would recommend also trying the herbal infusion sauna, which looks out over the gardens. A gentler heat leaves you feeling invigorated.

After relaxing in the thermal suites, we ventured to the treatment suites, where we were greeted by warm and welcoming therapists.

The treatment rooms have a tranquil atmosphere, with calming décor and music to wrap you up in the spa experience.

My therapist explained how the treatment would work from start to finish, what I could expect and how we should feel afterwards, putting you at ease before your treatment begins.

The powerful deep muscle massage promises to alleviate tension and muscular stress, with specialist techniques to ease the pain of common discomfort. It was blissful, and I would fully recommend!

Following the treatment, I was taken to the darkened sleep retreat suite, to relax following the treatment on a therapy bed in my own time. A soothing experience!

The team of highly skilled therapist offer a wide range of therapeutic beauty and treatment rituals, with a little help from luxurious ESPA products.

After relaxing by the pool with your favourite book or enjoying a calming treatment, we recommend dining in the award-winning pan-Asian restaurant, Fusion. With everything from light lunches, evening meals and afternoon tea with an oriental twist, there is something to suit all tastes!

The dishes are influenced by South East Asian cuisine, but we were assured the recipes are prepared using fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

The beautiful décor and welcoming staff creates the perfect atmosphere for a glass of fizz to celebrate a special occasion, or just somewhere to sit and enjoy a cup of tea after your treatment.

All of the team at Ramside Spa are friendly and efficient, making you feel completely at ease as soon as you walk through the door.

The spa offers good value for money for both treatments and spa days, with brilliant offers available throughout the year over on their website.

Whether you are looking for an afternoon of relaxation and rejuvenation at the spa, or are looking to extend your spa break with an overnight stay, be sure to visit Ramside Hall.
