Steven Forrest of Forfusion talks about the business he founded. Employing over 40 staff and growing, North Tyneside systems integrator Forfusion is a largely hidden secret in our region

What does the company do?
We serve as a straight-talking trusted advisor to our clients; we solve business problems using technology. Our core technologies include networks and security, unified communications and collaboration, as well as cloud and hosted, all of which are underpinned by FusionCare, our all-encompassing managed service offering. We take pride in delivering lifecycle services using a proven methodology for strategy, design, planning, implementation and 24/7 support services.

Since inception, we’ve been delivering services you would normally only expect from those turning over hundreds of millions; we’re known for punching above our weight, as well as using flexibility and agility as tools to displace much larger, typically more cumbersome systems integrators.

We’ve designed, deployed, customised and managed all manner of technology solutions, for some of the world’s most prestigious firms.

Why have people perhaps not heard of you?
We founded the business in London in 2007 and, despite relocating north a few years later, we’ve continued to deliver services primarily into our southern based clients. That said, over the coming months and years we plan to place further emphasis on growing our operation in the North, particularly in the North East – the founders originate from Newcastle, and it’s where more than half of our employees live, so it just makes sense.

How do you see the year ahead?
We anticipate strong growth this year; however, our primary focus will be on laying solid foundations to support scale in the years to come. We grew headcount by some 20% last year, and we’re on track to exceed that this year. We’re investing more heavily than ever in training, education and certification; we’re working tirelessly on modernising our brand and expanding our sales reach both in the North East and South East. We anticipate adding more UK wide customers to our portfolio, and have already made some very positive inroads.

What do you see as key to your ongoing success?
We must stay true to our belief that the outcome for our clients is the most important thing; only by continuing to attract, develop and retain the best people, will we be able to move forward. We will continue to work only with market leading technology vendors, demonstrating our intent to innovate by developing new and disruptive services. We made our first acquisition in late 2017, which further strengthened our position in the South of England, and who knows, we may well invest again in 2018.
