Located at the Baltic Campus of Gateshead College, Enfields Kitchen offers something different for those looking for a centrally located venue to catch up with friends over coffee and cake, or for a good value business lunch with colleagues and clients.
I had heard good things about the bistro, where freshly prepared and tasty food is served by Gateshead College’s talented chefs in training.
The menu, which changes regularly, is designed to give the catering and hospitality students the opportunity to showcase their skills, and so my colleague and I were looking forward to putting each course to the test.
On the afternoon of our visit, Enfield’s Kitchen was bustling with diners, with a lively yet informal atmosphere. We were greeted with a friendly welcome, and seated at a well-presented table.
I wasn’t too sure on what to expect from this student-led restaurant and kitchen, but I was soon put at ease by the highly professional waiting staff.
The menu boasted a selection of starters, mains and desserts with something for everyone to enjoy.
To start, I enjoyed a hearty caeser salad, whilst my colleague opted for the warming roasted red pepper soup. Our mains swiftly followed, tasty fish and chips and mushroom risotto.
The desserts were beautifully presented and fresh, with a well-deserved mention for my delicious tiramisu!
Both my colleague and I were impressed with the presentation and quality of all our three courses – so credit required for the team in the kitchen. Enfields Kitchen offers diners restaurant quality food at very affordable prices – with a three course lunch priced at just £6.
With brilliant service and tasty food, it is no surprise that Enfields Kitchen is gaining such a good reputation. Next time you are in the area, be sure to pop in!
