GT3 Architects creating ‘new Geordie home’ in Newcastle office expansion

A growing architecture practice is expanding into a former nightclub to maintain its momentum.

GT3 Architects is moving into Newcastle’s John Dobson House.

Bosses say the four-storey, grade-II listed building, on the city’s Bridge Street West, will provide space for a workforce that has increased by nearly 20 per cent over the last year.

They say it will be a “new Geordie home for the business”, adding it will “support staff, meet a flexible working policy and provide a great new meeting and collaboration space”.

Director Simon Dunstan said: “As a Newcastle-based business, it’s important we’re located in the heart of the city as it undergoes transformational regeneration.

“We’re pleased to give such a historic building – designed and lived in by one of Newcastle’s most pre-eminent architects – a new lease of life and a sustainable and secure future.”

Michael Simpson, interiors and workplace lead, added: “This is a great opportunity to employ our creativity and really go to town designing an amazing space for our team.

“With four levels to play with, our interiors and consultancy teams are working to design a homely, welcoming and flexible space.”

The firm expects to move into its new base later this year.
