Innovation ideas welcomed to bolster NHS services

A hospital trust is leading the way for UK innovation – and bosses now want to hear from staff to further make a difference to patients’ lives.

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been named as one of ten ‘InSite test bed’ sites across the country for the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme.

Run by NHS England’s innovation, research and life sciences group, and delivered jointly with Anglia Ruskin University, the scheme welcomes applications from clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals.

Described as the largest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind, the venture aims to provide the commercial skills, knowledge and experience needed to find solutions for challenges facing the NHS.

Bosses say it offers expert mentoring, exclusive networking and training to develop innovative ideas into products and businesses to benefit patients.

Entries are now open for people to enter new product and service ideas, with October 30 the deadline for submissions.
