400-home development coming to Middlesbrough

A new development of 400 homes is being brought to Middlesbrough, with a contribution of more than £1.7 million also going to the local area.

Woodcross Gate is the latest venture from Miller Homes and will see a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes delivered in Normanby.

Located off Flatts Lane, the site is within walking distance of local amenities and the popular Flatts Lane Country Park.

The £1.7 million investment in local infrastructure is part of Miller Homes’ commitment to delivering sustainable communities.

It will be directed towards education, the procurement of bus services between Woodcross Gate and Middlesbrough Bus Station and landscaping enhancements to the neighbouring country park.

Ahead of work starting on site, the development was named by children from its local school, Normanby Primary, who took inspiration from the nearby country park and several references to ‘wood’ on a map of the area.

Debbie Whittingham, area sales director at Miller Homes Teesside, said: “Woodcross Gate is perfectly placed for nature lovers, right on the edge of a stunning country park.

“Thanks to its location it’s no surprise we’ve had a lot of interest in the homes available, with over 500 people having registered their interest before our recent sales launch.

“Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increase in interest in our more rural developments across the region, as some home movers have reassessed their priorities and would like to live in a countryside location with access to open spaces.

“This development offers exactly that, and we can’t wait to help people find their dream home there.”
