Haines Watts celebrates ream of new appointments and promotions

Haines Watts is celebrating a flurry of promotions and appointments.

With the turn of the new financial year the leading accountancy and business advisory firm has welcomed five new team members alongside seven internal promotions.

More than half of the promotions come from the tax incentives and reliefs team, including Jessica Brook who has been promoted to associate partner, joining the firm’s leadership team.

With more than eight years’ experience in the tax industry, Jessica joined Haines Watts from a big four firm as an assistant manager.

Going forward, she will be overseeing the growth and development of the team.

Speaking on her promotion, Jessica said: “I joined Haines Watts in 2021 looking for a better work-life balance and an opportunity to make a difference – Haines Watts definitely delivers all that and more.”

“Haines Watts has such a special, people-focused and forward-thinking culture. A big part of that is thanks to the leadership team.

“I’m honoured and proud to be given this opportunity to join them in making those decisions which will help us continue to grow and be a great place to work.”

The promotion comes alongside the appointment of Jamie McLellan, who has joined the North East-based team from another Haines Watts office.

Comprised of ex-HMRC inspectors, chartered tax advisors and industry experts the incentives and reliefs team will be supporting innovative businesses through the huge changes in the R&D tax landscape.

When commenting on these changes, Jessica added: “There has been a lot of press about the changes to R&D recently, and while that can be daunting, we’re very much here to act as a pillar of support to businesses who are claiming, or looking to claim tax relief.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to expand our R&D and patent box offerings across the country and we’re looking forward to seeing what the year ahead brings.”

Elsewhere in the firm, there were senior promotions across the corporation tax, audit and marketing teams, whilst ten new delegates joined the firm’s accredited talent development programmes.

Reflecting on the 2022/23 year and the year ahead, managing partner Donna Bulmer said: “As a firm, we have so much to be proud of this year.

“We’ve taken part in an array of different activities in collaboration with our charity partner Streetwise – from suicide prevention training, and self-defence classes to fundraising activities.

“We have launched our new graduate recruitment programme; had more team members join and graduate from our talent development programmes and welcomed more great people to our team.”

“I’m particularly proud to welcome Jess to our leadership team – the fourth female leader to join our senior team this year.

“I am also incredibly proud to be celebrating all of our internal promotions which recognise all the hard work and personal development goals achieved by the team.”

“The appointments come as we look to continue to support owner managers in the North East through challenging times, while putting client service and our culture at the heart of everything we do. With this in mind, I’m really looking forward to what 2023/24 has to bring.”
