Greggs Champagne Bar set to open at Fenwick Newcastle

North East institutions Fenwick and Greggs are teaming up for the second time to bring a unique dining experience.

Following the success of Bistro Greggs at Fenwick Newcastle in 2023 – which saw over 8,000 covers within the one-month period – the two brands are joining forces to launch Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick.

This new dining experience will pair Greggs’ bakes and rolls with a selection of the finest Champagnes from Fenwick Food Hall.

The menu, created by Fenwick Executive Head Chef Mark Reid in collaboration with Greggs, will see the retailer’s classic savoury menu served with a range of contemporary condiments.

Steak Bakes will be served with a creamy peppercorn aioli, the Sausage, Bean and Cheese Melt will be paired with Bloody Mary ketchup and the iconic Sausage Roll has been revamped with the pairing of a hot honey chilli sauce.

Diners can pair their bakes and rolls with a selection of champagnes served by the glass or bottle including Bollinger Rosé, Laurent Perrier and Louis Roederer Cristal.

The Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick is the first and only place within the region to offer this exclusive Champagne menu “by the glass”.

There also a host of signature cocktails inspired by Greggs’ sweet treats.

Diners can enjoy a “Yum Yum Twist”, a sweet, sugar-glazed cocktail crafted with rum and real Yum Yums, a “Cream Éclair” which features vanilla vodka and dark chocolate liqueur, and a non-alcoholic “Peach Melba” cocktail. Last year’s Bistro Greggs’ signature “Pink Jammie Fizz” will also be returning to this year’s menu in collaboration with Mother Mercy.

Leo Fenwick, strategic partnerships director at Fenwick said: “After the phenomenal success of last year’s Bistro Greggs at Fenwick, we are proud to once again partner with the fellow North East icon, Greggs, to launch Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick offering a fun, one of a kind costumer experience.

“This pop-up enhances our growing restaurant offer which continues to evolve through unexpected collaborations and new concepts bringing customers a truly memorable in-store dining experience.”

Hannah Squirrell, customer director at Greggs said: “Whilst champagne and Greggs might not be the most immediate food and drink pairing, following the success and reaction to our Greggs Bistro last year, we’re excited for the launch of the Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick.

“Hopefully everyone who visited us last year, and many more, will enjoy the fun and unique experience that’s been created and discover that a chilled glass of Champagne accompanied by a Sausage Roll will be the hottest ticket in Toon for 2024.”

The brand-new Greggs Champagne Bar at Fenwick will launch on October 24 and run until December 31 in Fenwick’s Food Hall. It will be open between 11:30am until store closing on a reservation-only basis for customers to enjoy.
