Armstrong Watson recruits record number of trainees and graduates

An accountancy and business advisory firm has unveiled a record youngster intake.

Armstrong Watson has welcomed 51 trainees and graduates.

Among the new starters are 17 AAT students and two ATT students, who will work towards apprenticeship qualifications in accounting and tax compliance.

A further 28 ACA graduates are working towards becoming Chartered accountants, with the firm having recruited two ACCA students in restructuring and insolvency, and two payroll apprentices.

The arrivals follow Armstrong Watson’s naming as one of the UK’s top 100 apprenticeship employers for a second successive year by the Department for Education.

Paul Dickson, chief executive and managing partner, said: “Our people are our business; without them, we would be unable to provide solutions for clients.

“Our training programme provides us with an incredible pool of talent, many of which go on to have successful careers within the business.”

Richard Andrew, partner and head of accounting, added: “I’m so proud of the training, support and development our students receive from our dedicated training manager Karen Blaylock.

“And I really believe our programme, and the experience our trainees receive, is unrivalled in the sector.”

He added the firm is now looking for its 2024 intake of ACA trainee Chartered accountants, with positions available at its six offices across the north of England and Scotland.
