Award-winning barber cuts it as entrepreneur as new range proves popular

An international award-winning barber has proved he can also cut it as an entrepreneur after successfully launching his own range of hair products.

Sam Wall, who regularly travels the world for an array of global commissions, has created his own ‘Let’s ‘Ave It’ range under the brand, Mr Sam Wall.

Having made significant investment in creating his own products, Sam is now reaping the rewards after his entire first batch sold out within the first two weeks of going on sale.

He is now awaiting more stock, which will be sold through his website and in a number of outlets in the North East, including the Hidden Heights Creative Studio, in Gateshead, where he is based.

As one of the UK’s leading barbers, Sam – whose clients include international celebrities, sportsmen and leading businessmen – has won a multitude of national and international awards during his eight-year hairdressing career, including the ONESHOT Behind The Chair Men’s International Big Shot Winner 2018, for which he has again been shortlisted this year, making the final 25 from more than 311,000 entries worldwide.

He also recently gained national attention for his approach to championing men’s mental health, and the role he believes a barber can play in helping to provide support and a ‘sounding board’ for men during their time in the chair.

Formerly part of the UK Elite Team for American Crew – the world’s biggest professional men’s grooming product range – Sam is now focusing his energies on growing his own brand, with the second phase of products set to launch in early 2020.

His first products, which are all paraffin-free, include creams, clays, spray and shampoo, and are all named after some of Sam’s best-used phrases, including ‘Ello Mate’ and ‘You beaut’.

Sam, who has recently become an ambassador for global electronics brand Panasonic, said: “It was a massive decision for me to create my own range but one I’m pleased I have made.

“The reaction and feedback has been fantastic and for the first batch to sell out within two weeks was beyond anything I could have expected, they literally flew off the shelves. I’ve had so much support, and my business clients in particular have been amazing, I think they appreciate what a big step it is to invest in your first venture.

“It has never been an aspiration to compete with the big brands out there, what I have created was done with my clients in mind and the kinds of things I’m always being asked for.

“I was nervous about creating my own range as it’s a huge step to take, in addition to the financial commitment it requires, but I believe in my products and am delighted my customers do too.

“I am already planning for the second phase of products, which will launch in the near future.”
