Barber-turned-entrepreneur launches hand sanitiser
May 11, 2020
A North East entrepreneur behind the creation of a range of male grooming products has expanded his operation to create hand sanitiser, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since launching his eponymous range of products last year, Sam Wall has seen sales from as far afield as Canada and the Far East.
Now the international award-winning stylist has invested in the addition of a ‘Squeaky Klean’ melon fragranced hand sanitiser.
Hand sanitiser has become increasingly difficult to obtain since the onset of Coronavirus in the UK in March, and in the weeks and months before that elsewhere in the world, with prices increasing significantly in response to the huge demand.
Sam, who is based at the Hidden Heights Creative Studio in Gateshead, decided to bring out his own sanitiser, which follows the signature design of the rest of his ‘Let’s ‘Ave It’ range but has become the lowest priced product he has produced, so it can be as accessible as possible.
He said: “I decided to launch my own range of products last year to answer the exact needs of my clients, and address the things they had raised with me many times about how to achieve a certain look, or maintain their current style. So when the global shortage of hand sanitiser happened, I wanted to see if I could answer a need there, too.
“It was something that my current product manufacturer had the capability to produce, so I went for it, and in the few days it’s been on sale, I’ve had orders from around the world. My big factors in producing the sanitiser were that it smelled great and was reasonably priced. I’ve seen some of the price increases on hand sanitiser products recently and in many cases they’re now too expensive for people to buy, even though hand hygiene is so important.
“I’m really proud of the end result and how well it is selling. Prior to this, I thought my range was complete, after launching ten products in two phases, but I think this hand sanitiser is a great and very timely addition. While I’m not able to work with clients directly at the minute due to social distancing and the salon having to close, I hope my products can still address their needs when it comes to appearance and wellbeing.”
