Bellway Homes moves into new HQ at AirView Park

After almost 30 years at Seaton Burn House, Newcastle-based national house builder Bellway Homes has moved to a new purpose-built headquarters as the first anchor tenant on AirView Park, a new business park next to Newcastle International Airport.

The FTSE250 company, has moved into the new 21,000 square foot building, providing office space for Bellway’s 80 group office staff. As well as providing light and spacious open plan office space, the office also has an on-site gym, outside exercise space, a staff recreation area as well as charging points for electric vehicles and bicycles.

Woolsington House will also be the home of the Bellway Academy, a new national training hub, providing education facilities for the group’s 22 regional divisions and 3100 staff members. Bellway Academy will help to ensure that our trainees, graduates, apprentices and site personnel have the right skills to enable the Group to continue building good quality new homes in the future, and will help address some of the skills shortages being experienced in the UK construction sector.

Jason Honeyman, chief executive of Bellway Homes, said: “As a national company with its heritage firmly based in the North East, the move to Woolsington House marks a key moment in our history. It is the culmination of four years’ work in identifying and securing the site, designing, planning and constructing the new Group Office for the business.

“We took the decision that for the next phase of Bellway’s history, a larger modern office was required to support the Group’s growth strategy. However, after almost 30 years at Seaton Burn House, we wanted to find a suitable site that reflected all the good aspects of our previous home but was more suited to that of a modern FTSE250 company.

“In Woolsington House we have a site with excellent road, rail and air links making it more accessible for staff and visitors. The building design is based on a ‘Pavillion in a Park’ concept and working with our architects, IDP Partnership, and main contractor, Bowmer and Kirkland, we have delivered a high-quality headquarters which will bring benefit not only to our Group Office staff, but also to our 22 regional divisions through the Bellway Academy.”
