Bernard Interiors adds to team with dual appointment
December 3, 2020
An interior design studio has strengthened its team with two new arrivals.
Bernard Interiors has welcomed Vicky Stewart and Lizzie Clarke.
Vicky joins as lead interior architectural designer, with Lizzie taking a junior interior architectural designer role.
Both hold interior architecture degrees from Northumbria University and have spent time working in London on large-scale luxury projects.
Vicky previously worked as a senior design consultant for a number of high-end hospitality brands in London, creating concepts and tender packs for private members clubs in Mayfair and Edinburgh’s St Andrews Square.
However, the 29-year-old said it feels great to be back in the North East.
“I studied at Northumbria University and fell in love with Newcastle; it’s a great city with a rich culture of art and design.
“There’s always amazing independent clothing brands and food concepts to discover.
“I was very sad to leave for London after graduating and have been trying to find my way back to the North East ever since.”
Vicky, who describes her career highlight to date as working on the refurbishment of The Gleneagles Hotel, in Perth, Scotland, says she is looking forward to bringing her skills and experience to the fore with Bernard Interiors.
She said: “There’s nothing better than fulfilling and exceeding a client’s expectations by creating beautiful, design-led spaces and experiences.
“I love being on site and seeing the vision come to life.
“It’s so rewarding working with historic and listed buildings, sensitively bringing them back to their glory days for people to enjoy.
Like Vicky, Lizzie’s career has included time in the capital, notably in South West London, where she worked for a design practice specialising in luxurious residential interiors.
Her portfolio includes designing a 10,000sq ft flat in Mayfair and exclusive homes across London, including in St John’s Wood.
And, just like Vicky, she is delighted to be back in the North East.
“I always had in my mind that I would move back up to Newcastle – it’s always felt like a home from home,” said Lizzie, who is now working on new high-end residential projects, which include a six-bedroom house in Ponteland.
“There aren’t many places in the country where you get stunning beaches and great city life within ten miles of each other.
“It was definitely a lifestyle decision to relocate and Bernard Interiors was my employer of choice.”
“We are excited to welcome Vicky and Lizzie as part of our expanding award-winning team,” added Jen Bernard, founder of Bernard Interiors.
“It’s great to be able to attract such talent back to the North East.”
