Cake Stories savours sweet success of Great British Entrepreneur Awards title

A cake maker hopes to rise further still after scooping an award.

Cake Stories, based in Gateshead and Newcastle, was named North East Family Business Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

And the business – which sells home-baked desserts to wholesale and public markets – hopes to maintain its momentum by expanding partnerships with John Lewis and the 222 Coffee franchise.

Founded by Hannah Evans and mum Liz in 2015, the company supplies products to more than 200 coffee shops and restaurants across the country, and grew its wholesale division by 260 per cent across the last year.

Hannah, who now runs the company alongside husband Ben, said: “We’re so grateful to receive recognition on behalf of the whole team for the incredibly hard work that goes into Cake Stories every day.

“Running a small family business is hard work, and it’s great there’s an award that celebrates and encourages people in this sector.

“The win has opened us up to being part of a great community and we’d happily enter again in the future, as the business continues to grow in stature and scale.”
