Caravan maker Erwin Hymer Group to create 200-plus jobs in £15 million investment

A County Durham caravan, motorhome and campervan maker has revealed plans to create more than 200 jobs in a £15 million investment.

Erwin Hymer Group says it wants staff to boost production and secure its status in the region for the next 15 years.

Bosses say the pledge will also see significant investment in the firm’s Consett plant, land and machinery.

The business – which includes the Elddis, Compass, Xplore and Buccaneer brands – is working with recruitment process outsourcing business greenbean to fill production and warehousing roles.

Carol Butts, Erwin Hymer Group HR manager, said: “Our thriving manufacturing plant is at the heart of our company and is growing in both size and success.

“Our leisure vehicles are in demand – more than ever before, with the rise of the UK staycation and customers seeking a safer, more secure way to travel.

“Every vehicle we build is enabling their ambition to travel and explore, which creates an exciting and engaging team spirit within our factory.

“We look forward to working with greenbean to welcome new colleagues to the team and are sure they will enjoy our unique environment.”

Louise Reed, greenbean’s head of client solutions, added: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with such a prestigious brand.

“This is an exciting period for Erwin Hymer, and we are delighted to be supporting them to find great people to build their multi-award-winning vehicles.”
