Cheers! BrewDog latest name confirmed for Durham’s Milburngate scheme

Bosses behind a city centre leisure development have secured a deal with a well-known beer maker.

Arlington Real Estate has welcomed BrewDog to Milburngate, on Durham City’s riverside.

Officials have hailed its arrival, saying its 3,736sq ft base – which will include a bar and outdoor seating area – will “bring something new and fresh to the city”.

BrewDog joins boutique cinema chain Everyman, steak restaurant Bar + Block and a 93-bed Premier Inn hotel on Milburngate.

Developed through a joint venture between Arlington Real Estate and Richardson, Milburngate will also feature more than 150 apartments and office space.

Phase one of the scheme is due to be finished in the autumn.

Allan Cook, Arlington Real Estate managing director, said: “We’re delighted to have secured another premium brand like BrewDog.

“It’s a perfect fit for Milburngate.”

Simon Eastwood, Richardson real estate, said: “BrewDog is a highly sought-after brand that will be very much at home at Milburngate.

“Securing it as one of our anchor occupiers demonstrates the ambition we have for Milburngate.”

They added more details of BrewDog’s venture – and an opening date – will be announced in the coming months.
