Darlington jobs fair an ‘amazing success’

An employment event has been hailed an “amazing success” after attracting record numbers.

Darlington Jobs Fair welcomed nearly 1500 people, with more than 70 organisations highlighting opportunities across the borough.

Guests were able to learn more about roles from fitness instruction and care work, to law enforcement, finance, retail and management, with Darlington Borough Council’s Learning and Skills and Youth Employment initiative providing updates on training courses and apprenticeships.

The event, held in the town’s Dolphin Centre, also featured a Google Digital Garage, which provided support with CV skills and career goals.

Councillor Jamie Bartch, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for economy, said: “The fair was a one-stop shop for people looking for a change of career or their first step to the perfect job.

“And it was an amazing success, with more people than ever having the chance to browse the wide range of stands to talk face-to-face with potential employers and training providers, and take part in free workshops.”
