Deloitte names new partner and promotes 74 in Newcastle

Deloitte has promoted 74 people in Newcastle and made Michael Cobb a partner in the business tax team.

After joining the team back in 2004 as a graduate recruit, Michael has climbed the ladder and now supports clients in the financial services sector, with expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) tax advisory projects within the wealth management, fintech and insurance broking sectors.

Natalie Healy has also been promoted to managing director in the audit and assurance department, with three further director positions achieved by Amit Parab (consulting), Andy Carel-Maloney (financial advisory) and Gordon Rowell (tax and legal).

Gordon Rowell also received the Excellence in Tax accolade at the North East Accountancy Awards on 4 July 2024.

The audit and assurance business had the largest number of promotions with 38 people being promoted, a further 24 promotions were made in the tax and legal team with another five in consulting, three in financial advisory, two in risk advisory and one in enabling functions, the firm’s specialist internal support team.

Along with the promotions, the team has recruited 15 graduates, five Brightstart apprentices and two undergrad students on industrial placements in the last financial year.
