Developer plans new office scheme to support North East’s recovery drive

Tynexe Commercial Ltd, developer of AirView Park, has agreed the release of funds to submit a planning application for a new, 18,000 sq ft, high quality office-based scheme.

It will comprise of two buildings aimed at delivering new jobs, inward investment and business growth opportunities to strengthen the North East’s recovery.

The scheme could become Phase Two of AirView Park, a 175,000 sq ft commercial site next to Newcastle International Airport which provides a prime, strategic location for local, national and global organisations.

Proposals (to be submitted to Newcastle City Council by mid-April) will include a new one-storey, 10,200 sq ft office building offering flexible workspaces and accommodating up to 190 desks. It will include office suites of various sizes, ideal for SMEs, as well as conference suites and hot desk facilities.

The digitally-enabled building will also include modern reception and communal areas, ‘break-out’ social spaces, parking for multiple vehicles, charging points, cycling facilities and landscaping.

AirView Park has already attracted national homebuilder, Bellway plc, as its anchor tenant, and developers are confident that the planning application, once submitted and if granted, will encourage more organisations to the site, Newcastle upon Tyne and the North East.

As part of its ambitious vision and wider recovery plan post-Covid, Newcastle City Council recently announced that it is to invest £50m transforming the city centre, capitalising on its vibrancy, popularity and economic potential as a place to live, work, relocate, visit and invest. The regeneration and transformation programme will further support key strategic, out-of-town development sites like AirView Park with the Council keen to showcase Newcastle upon Tyne as a global city that offers the best of both worlds, attracting new companies, growth and further inward investment.

Once submitted, it will be open to public consultation and subject to the rigorous scrutiny of the planning process with planning committee making the final decision.”

AirView Park, located at Woolsington, offers Enterprise Zone status and is currently one of the region’s most active commercial property sites. The outcome of the Phase Two planning application is expected Summer 2021.
