Digital firm in good health with record NHS deal

A digital health company has secured a £1 million hospital deal.

Health Call has renewed its partnership with Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with what it says is its largest contract to date.

The tie-up will see the firm continue to provide digital tools to more than 1.5 million patients across the North East and North Cumbria.

Newcastle Hospitals has secured a licence on behalf of the North East and North Cumbria ICS to supply more than 60 of Health Call’s innovative digital applications over the next three years.

Health Call is an NHS-owned digital health company set up to share digital health expertise and resources to drive down the costs of health and care provision.

It works alongside healthcare professionals to share knowledge and create networks of clinical expertise.

Officials say benefits of the application include greater control of clinics, budgets and data, better data security and a robust audit trail, so that healthcare workers and patients can view and track appointments and appointment information at any stage.

Ian Dove, Health Call managing director, said: “It’s an extremely exciting time and this important contract further validates our work across the North East and North Cumbria.

“The new contract is a testament to the trust our region has in Health Call, and we are looking forward to making a further positive impact.

“This is a key milestone in our journey, and we can’t wait to see the impact. “

Dr Chris Plummer, Newcastle Hospitals’ chief clinical informatics officer, added: “This provides the region with access to more than 60 clinically designed digital solutions and some exciting future developments.”
