EMG Solicitors celebrate further expansion with new Manchester office
September 25, 2023
Following the opening of a Darlington office in February 2023, EMG Solicitors’ growth plans are being realised further with a brand-new division in Altrincham, Manchester.
Led by director Ruth Wright, the team is also being strengthened with two new appointments, client executive, Katy Parrott and team administrator, Rachel Snowdon.
The Manchester office initially focuses on EMG’s primary specialism of Court of Protection (COP), with Wills, trusts and probate, family, dispute resolution, residential conveyancing, and commercial property being serviced by team members from other branches, with plans to recruit in these areas in the coming months. The new base takes EMG’s office footprint up to five, demonstrating the brand’s growing reputation in the legal sector.
Officially opened in April 2023, the office is led by experienced and well-known legal professional Ruth Wright. Ruth joined EMG’s Court of Protection Property and Affairs team bringing with her over 18 years’ of experience working as a professional deputy and trustee alongside her solid background in litigation. Having worked in Manchester for over nine years, she has a strong reputation in being able to manage some of the most complex Court of Protection cases. And it’s from EMG’s North West base that Ruth and the team are supporting a number of clients nationwide.
As an award winning Legal 500 law firm, EMG’s commitment to delivering exceptional client service, investing in their people, and leading from a values centric culture is central to their success. The last 12 months saw turnover at the firm rise by 26 percent as it reached its ninth anniversary in February, with an additional 35 colleagues joining the firm in 2023 so far, taking the total number of people working at EMG to 141.
Ruth Wright, director – Court of Protection, at EMG Solicitors said; “I am delighted to have had the opportunity to join the EMG team. Not only do they have an enviable reputation in the market, not least for their specialism in COP, but they have fantastic values and a really great ethos too. This really resonated with me on both a personal and professional level. I love that they are a firm that ‘can do’ and ‘does do’, making things happen and creating a real difference to our clients’ lives. They have integrity and kindness too which for me is essential, as well as really talented lawyers across the business who all support each other to deliver the highest levels of client service.
“I love that EMG is also a female led business and that there’s never two days the same. It certainly keeps you on your toes! Both Emma Gaudern and Jemma Morland who founded the business back in 2014 have created somewhere special with an open and transparent culture where everyone is valued. They really do look after their clients and colleagues.
“I’m delighted to have both Katy and Rachel on board who are incredibly talented and an absolute joy to work with. Their appointments support our ambitious plans for the Manchester office over the next few years as we look to build and expand the team further alongside our areas of expertise.
“We already have lots of new COP work coming in, almost quicker than we can open files which is very encouraging and testament to the standards and reputation we hold ourselves to.”
Emma Gaudern (pictured left), managing director of EMG Solicitors, said: “Opening an office in Manchester has always been a personal dream having worked in the area as a practising lawyer for many years in my earlier career. As an avid beekeeper too in my spare time, I suppose it would seem apt to have our next office here given it’s one of the city’s emblems! Like the bee colony in practice, it’s a symbol that quite poignantly represents what societies can accomplish when everyone works together – just like our teams here at EMG!
“And it really is wonderful to have Ruth, Katy and Rachel in our team who bring with them a wealth of experience. Their appointments will only go to strengthen our service offering further and I wish them all the best in their roles.
“It still amazes me to think about how far we have come in such a small space of time since launching the business back in 2014. We are proud of the fact that this office now takes us from being a North East and Cumbrian firm to a Northern firm with an even wider footprint, meaning we are able to better support our expanding portfolio of clients, and their communities.
“At EMG we are always on the lookout for legal talent, so if you feel you could become a welcome addition to the team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
