June 3, 2019
Newcastle based wealth management company Tier One Capital has appointed business lawyer Andrew Cawkwell as an independent member of its credit committee.
Andrew, who is a dual qualified restructuring solicitor and certified turnaround professional, brings his business and legal experience to Tier One Capital, which will further strengthen the company’s growing team.
He was previously named Turnaround Practitioner of the Year at the Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency Awards and will combine the position with a new role with London based Manolete Partners PLC.
This follows a successful period for Andrew, leading the Durham office for Newtons Solicitors, and previously as a partner at law firm Muckle LLP in Newcastle.
Following the appointment, Andrew said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Tier One Capital team and look forward to contributing to their continued success as one of the region’s leading wealth management companies.
“The expansion of alternative funding opportunities, such as those offered by Tier One Capital, is creating real potential for business growth and the development of property schemes that enhance the local economies and regional communities. This is an interesting opportunity to support businesses seeking investment to drive economic growth.”
Ian McElroy, chief executive of Tier One Capital said: “Andrew has gained a growing national reputation in the field of commercial law and we look forward to adding his considerable business expertise to provide an experienced independent voice to support future investment opportunities.
“We have strengthened the professional resource in Tier One Capital consistently since inception, especially over the last year or so with a number of key senior individuals joining the company. Andrew is a further part of this, and we are delighted to be in a position to attract another one of the region’s most respected professionals to our team.”
Tier One Capital’s credit committee, which meets once a month, considers opportunities to provide financing for land and property-backed developments largely based in the North East.
Tier One Capital is the appointed investment advisor to the prestigious London Stock Exchange-listed TOC Property Backed Lending Trust PLC (PBLT), which currently has £35m available to fund opportunities that meet the committee’s criteria.
Richard McEvoy, chairman of the credit committee, added: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew onto our credit committee, given his significant commercial and legal expertise. He is well placed to assist the team in analysing new and monitoring existing projects, and we have no doubt he will be a valuable addition to the team.”
