Generator secures funding from Culture Recovery Fund
October 14, 2020
A support organisation for the North East creative, digital and music industries has been awarded funding from the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF).
Generator is one of 1385 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving the support, which has been levied to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
£257 million of investment has been announced in the first round of funding and will be administered by Arts Council England.
The CRF funding will support Generator to continue to deliver its music talent development programmes, supporting North East artists and musicians.
Its work also involves promoting regional artists to a wider audience, which has usually been done through its annual music festival, Tipping Point Live, which was cancelled this year due to public health concerns.
The funding will enable Generator to adapt this into something exciting for artists and audiences alike, whilst also supporting venues and industry professionals.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: “This funding is a vital boost for the theatres, music venues, museums and cultural organisations that form the soul of our nation.
“It will protect these special places, save jobs and help the culture sector’s recovery.”
Hannah Matterson, CEO of Generator, added: “We are delighted that Generator have been awarded money from the Arts Council England and DCMS Culture Recovery Fund.
“Our work supporting artists and those working in the music industry across the North East is vital to ensure a rich and fruitful music industry for the region, and this money will enable us to continue to do that through these challenging times.”
