Global Procurement Group welcomes Brendan Garvey to senior position

An energy consultancy has made a senior appointment.

Global Procurement Group – which trades as Northern Gas and Power – has welcomed Brendan Garvey as chief people officer.

Bosses say he will support the executive leadership team, driving best practice and initiatives across the firm’s international HR function.

He will also lead its people, culture, policy and transformational change agenda.

Global Procurement Group employs more than 750 people, with its Gateshead headquarters complemented by offices in Newcastle, Leeds, France, Malta, India and the US.

It supports 22,000 customers with energy portfolios and assets.

Brendan [pictured below], who has more than 25 years’ experience in people management across several industries that include nuclear generation and telecoms, counts EDF and Vodafone among his previous employers.

Officials say he brings a wealth of experience to Global Procurement Group, adding he will provide insight, guidance and support across the full range of HR disciplines, including recruitment and selection, performance management and learning and development.

Reacting to his appointment, Brendan said: “After meeting with the chief executive and the executive team, as well as spending time in the business at the new Northern Gas and Power Riga headquarters on Gateshead Quays, I was extremely impressed with not only the culture that has been created, but also the opportunity to work in an environment that embraces all aspects of diversity and inclusion.

“As a fast-growing business we will be recruiting heavily over the coming months, not just in the UK but right across the globe where we have operations.

“This is a truly exciting time, and I can’t wait to be a part of that.”
