Growth in turnover for the lighting division of Park Electrical Distributors
February 20, 2020
The lighting design division of Park Electrical Distributors has doubled its turnover from £6.2 million to £12.6 million over a two-year period from 2017-19 and enters the new decade with confidence.
The North East independent electrical wholesaler employs 82 people across six regional branches, with eight directly responsible for the lighting design division.
The growth in turnover is down to a raft of major project wins across the North East and wider UK.
Park Electric recently completed a project on the Catalyst building at Newcastle Helix and has worked on developments at Leeds Beckett, Durham and Glasgow universities.
The company’s lighting design division specialises in lighting design and control as well as the supply, coordination, logistics and problem solving that are central to the successful delivery of a project.
It also provides bespoke LED lighting solutions, which offer advantages over conventional lamps.
Established in 1990 and now boasting a £30 million turnover, Park Electrical Distributors is now growing at a fast pace with sites in Team Valley, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and Cramlington.
Paul Watson, technical lighting design manager, said: “We are delivering large, exciting contracts, thanks to the contacts we have developed both with the end customer and within our industry supply chain.
“While there has been political and economic uncertainty during the last two years, we have single-mindedly concentrated on our growth strategy and have supported a significant number of regional projects which, in itself, is a sign that there is a great deal of high quality development taking place in the North East.
“As we grow, we are also looking to invest in our team by identifying and developing young talent, we have a great blend of experience and youth within our teams to help continue to drive us forward.”
