Civil engineer Land & Water secures multi-million-pound Teesport contract

A wet civil engineering firm has secured a multi-million-pound contract with a port operator to upgrade a vessel docking berth.

Land & Water is working with PD Ports to revamp Teesport’s number two roll on/roll off (ro-ro) space.

The deal marks another major boost in the region for Land & Water, which recently opened a regional hub in Newcastle.

The project, due to commence in February, will see Land & Water demolish and re-build the ro-ro linkspan bridge at Tees Dock.

Andy McBride, Land & Water’s contracts manager, said: “Working with PD Ports to redevelop the ro-ro and allow larger vessels to berth at Tees Dock is incredibly significant for us.

“We are proud to be involved in the construction of the ro-ro by using our marine civil engineering capabilities to strengthen Teesport as the UK’s Northern gateway for international trade.

“We are very much looking forward to starting these works and consolidating our place within the Northern infrastructure sector in what is an extremely exciting time for the region as it continues to show it is a truly outward-looking, international region ready to welcome the cutting-edge sectors of the future.”
