A well-known North East business figure is leaving a regeneration body role.
Lucy Winskell is stepping down as chair of the North East Combined Authority business board.
Bosses say the search for her successor will begin later this month.
Appointed upon the creation of the North East Combined Authority, the body led by North East mayor Kim McGuinness to oversee a £4.2 billion devolution deal for the north of the region, Lucy says her time in post has been an “honour”.
She said: “It has been an honour to work alongside dedicated individuals committed to the growth and prosperity of our region at such a critical time.
“We’ve made remarkable strides in establishing the North East as a centre for innovation and sustainable business growth.
“I look forward to seeing the board and the wider business community continue to shape our region’s future.”
The present Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Lucy was previously chair of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership for four years.
Her career has also included time as a private practice solicitor and Northumbria University pro vice-chancellor.
Praising Lucy’s impact, mayor McGuinness said: “Lucy has been a true champion for the North East, and her efforts have strengthened our ability to create opportunities for people across our region.”
