Mabbett expands into Tees valley with Materials Processing Institute move

A safety, environment and engineering consultancy has joined an expanding group of organisations at a Tees Valley research and innovation centre.

Mabbett has taken occupancy at the Materials Processing Institute, based in Middlesbrough.

Bosses say the occupancy will support the company’s growth plans across the North East and North West.

Established in 1996, Mabbett supports manufacturing, engineering and commercial organisations to grow more competitively and sustainably by identifying and implementing solutions that manage risk, achieve compliance and reduce costs.

Derek J McNab, managing director, said: “We are delighted to invest in an office at the Materials Processing Institute as we look to expand our regional coverage into Teesside, the North East and the North West.

“As an independent, integrated, safety, environment and engineering consultancy we see the Institute’s prestigious facilities and location as the ideal base.

“We look forward to playing an active role in the Teesside business community, developing collaborative partnerships with other like-minded businesses and demonstrating our commitment to the region over the long-term.”

The Materials Processing Institute supports organisations working in advanced materials, low carbon energy and the circular economy.

It is also recognised for its work in the global steel industry, thanks to its expertise in the development and up-scaling of materials and industrial processes.

Chris McDonald, chief executive, said he was delighted to welcome Mabbett.

He added: “We are committed to supporting a range of organisations through our SME Technology Centre services and I’d like to wish Mabbett all the very best with its expansion plans as it aims to grow further in the region.”
