MCR Services expands into larger base after contracts success
August 13, 2019
An inspection and rework company has moved into larger premises after securing major contracts with retailers Argos and Sainsbury’s.
MCR Services, based in Cramlington, Northumberland, has also seen an increase in enquiries for its services, which range from quality control inspection to sortation, labelling and packing, reworking and preparing products for distribution.
As a result, MCR Services – a sister company to Moody Logistics & Storage – has moved into a larger 3,700sq ft unit, which allows staff to work simultaneously on multiple orders, increasing both efficiency and productivity.
The new unit also provides enough capacity to accommodate extra staff in peak periods, as well as providing the flexibility to meet future growth plans. The limitations of the previously smaller unit meant only one project at a time could be worked upon, which hampered workflow.
The team at MCR Services, whose clients include Next, John Lewis, Harveys and Hypnos Beds, provide a professional quality control service to ensure imported goods meet the required standard. If any issues are discovered, its skilled staff can make the necessary adjustments to ensure the goods are ready for sale.
Experienced in reworking a variety of products – ranging from furniture and soft furnishings to accessories and homeware – it is one of the few companies in the North East to provide a repackaging service to satisfy client specifications.
The company has also invested in a new shrink-wrapping machine, which is able to efficiently accommodate larger scale projects.
Another element is the swatch service and swatch book making service, which targets bespoke smaller quantity requirements to allow customers to showcase their products.
Its close ties to Moody Logistics & Storage means it can offer on-site warehousing to accommodate re-palletised goods prior to delivery.
Caroline Crawford, managing director, said: “MCR Services’ move into this much larger unit reflects its success in attracting new business, securing contracts with some of the biggest names in UK retail.
“The new premises provide much greater flexibility, which has increased efficiency and productivity, allowing the company to expand its customer base.
“More importantly, it provides scope to accommodate more staff as part of the strategic plans to grow the business.
“Part of its success is founded on the close relationship with sister company, Moody Logistics & Storage, which provides clients with seamless access to extensive storage and shipment facilities.”
