Meet and greet service reopens at Newcastle International Airport

Newcastle International Airport’s only official ‘premium meet and greet’ car park has fully reopened to passengers following two years of pandemic closure.

Based immediately in front of the terminal, the car park allows passengers to drop off cars before heading straight inside.

Inside, a modern, high-specification waiting area awaits – with a hotel-style reception where uniformed members of staff welcome and collect passenger keys.

On returning to the airport, passengers’ cars are waiting for their arrival.

Dean Ward, director of commercial at the airport, said: “This is another milestone in the recovery of the airport from the pandemic.

“Thanks to the relaxation of restrictions and the return of all of our airline partners to the region, we have seen a significant increase in passenger numbers over the past few weeks and we are expecting numbers to continue to rise as we head into the summer season.

“Now is the perfect time to reopen this outstanding facility and we look forward to once again providing the best possible experience for our passengers.”

The airport reported an increase in passengers during the recent February half-term school holidays.

More than 75,000 customers passed through the terminal, with popular destinations including the Canary Islands, Dubai, Rome, Switzerland and Portugal.

The car park was part of a multi-million-pound investment into the airport’s car parking facilities in 2019, which also included a new premium fast track car parking area, located even closer to the terminal.

Both car parks must be pre-booked on the airport’s website prior to arrival.
