More affordable homes on offer as part of housing provider’s ongoing expansion
April 17, 2019
A North East social housing provider that recently expanded its portfolio by half is urging prospective house hunters to act quickly to secure one of its latest properties.
Hellens Residential, which offers affordable homes across the region in a number of ways, including Rent to Buy, shared ownership lease and shared equity sale, is offering the two and three-bedroom homes in Brookland Park, near Acklam, as a discount sale, with 30 per cent off normal market value.
Two of the eight properties, which the organisation acquired from developer Miller Homes, have already been reserved, and demand has been high, with another two properties close to being snapped up. Buyers will own the property from day one with no further payments to make, the only stipulation being that any subsequent sale must be made with the same 30 per cent discount applied.
The development, at Furrow Grange on the outskirts of Middlesbrough, has been so popular for Hellens that it’s due to purchase a further seven two and three-bedroom homes in the same location from Story Homes later in the year, allowing even more families to get on the property ladder.
Kate Hellens, managing director of Hellens Residential, which is based in Washington, said: “Close to the A19, Brookland Park is just five miles from the town centre, and eight miles from the North York Moors National Park, so these affordable new build properties, complete with freehold, not only offer urban convenience in a peaceful setting, but have a number of sought-after features, including off-street parking on private driveways, rear gardens, spacious living spaces and fitted flooring throughout.”
Now five years old, Hellens Residential continues to expand its portfolio, which includes affordable homes in Jubilee Gardens, Stockton, a series of bungalows at Wheatley Hill in County Durham and several Rent to Buy apartments at Lingfield Point in Darlington.
Kate added: “It’s wonderful to be able to offer yet more people the chance to acquire their own home within a quality development at a price they can more easily manage.”
On Furrow Grange, the two-bedroom homes are priced at £122,555, and three beds are £139,999. For further details regarding the scheme, or any of the other homes Hellens Residential has to offer to rent or to buy, visit its website at hellensresidential.co.uk.
